Air Passenger Rights

Your Air Passenger Rights are protected by International regulations. These Regulations provides common rights on flight compensation for passengers in the event of more than 3 hours delay, cancellation and overbooking.

You can be entitled to flight delay compensation, if:

    • You arrived at your destination more than three hours later than planned.

    • The flight took off in the EU (from any airline) or landed in the EU (provided that the airline is headquartered in the EU).

    • You have checked in for your flight on time (generally no less than 45 minutes before departure).

    • You encountered these problems on a flight operated no more than six years ago.

    • The airline is responsible for the delay (e.g. operational circumstances and technical difficulties).

    • It doesn’t matter whether the airline has already provided you with food, refreshment or travel vouchers.

    • You are eligible to between €250 and €600 compensation per person, depending on your travel distance.

You can be entitled to flight cancellation compensation, if:

    • Your cancelled flight was set to depart from the EU (with any airline) or scheduled to land in the EU (provided the airline is headquartered in the EU).

    • You were notified of the cancellation less than 14 days before the flight.

    • You have a confirmed flight reservation.

    • The cancellation occurred in the last 6 years.

    • The reason for the cancellation was within the airline's control. (e.g. operational circumstances, technical difficulties or airline staff strikes).

    • If you took a replacement flight, your new arrival time was significantly different to your original flight.

    • You are eligible to between €250 and €600 compensation per person, depending on your travel distance.

You can be entitled to missed connection compensation, if:

    • The flight took off in the EU (from any airline) or landed in the EU (provided that the airline is headquartered in the EU).

    • You missed the connection due to a flight delay, flight cancellation or overbooked flight.

    • In the case of flight delay: Your missed connection caused you to be over three hours late arriving at your final destination.

    • Your connecting flights were part of the same booking, not purchased individually.

    • The disruption which caused you to miss your connection was within the airline's control (e.g. airline staff strike or technical difficulties).

    • You did not miss your connection for a reason under your control (for example, you showed up too late at the departure gate, or did not have the correct documentation).

    • You are eligible to between €250 and €600 compensation per person, depending on your travel distance.

You can be entitled to overbooking compensation, if:

    • The flight took off in the EU (from any airline) or landed in the EU (provided that the airline is headquartered in the EU).

    • You did not volunteer to surrender your seat in exchange for vouchers or other benefits.

    • You were not denied boarding for a reason under your control (for example, you showed up too late at the departure gate, or did not have the correct documentation).

    • You encountered these problems on a flight operated no more than six years ago.

    • You have not already received compensation for your overbooking from the airline.

    • You are eligible to between €250 and €600 compensation per person, depending on your travel distance.

For all the above situations:

Even if your flight was scheduled to depart from outside Europe, if your destination was in Europe and you were flying with a European carrier, you’re covered.

Israeli law gives you compensation in case of cancellation. A delay of 8 hours, at take-off, is considered cancellation.

You can be entitled to delayed or lost luggage compensation, if:

You had expenses; these include:

    • the essentials you need if your luggage is delayed, e.g. toiletries, clothes, food etc

    • the cost of replacing or repairing lost luggage and contents

    • If you had to collect delayed luggage yourself, you may be able to get the airline to pay for transport costs.

Airlines usually want receipts for everything included in your claim, so make sure to keep them.

You are eligible to up to £1200 of expenses for each passenger.

This rule applies worldwide with all airlines.
